Temperature Gauge App Reviews

Does what it says. Pro Version gets you Fan control

Although updating it to the latest version (and also to Pro for another $5) is an annoying hassle; I that’s more Apple’s fault than the developers. I think it digs a little further into the OS’ hardware functions than Apple is comfortable with. The external installation is a bit quirky but Tunabelly’s support was very quick (a couple of hours for me) and accurate. The app itself works better than I expected, flawlessly in fact.

This works very well, but

$4.99 for something that should come with the computer is a bit steep.

does what it is suppose to do very well. Thx Devs

thx for the great app!

Power Hog

According to the Activity Meter this is usually the most power hungry application running. Current average Energy Impact 11.70, my number two application (which is Xcode) is at 8.7. I’m beginning to wonder if this application isn’t the cause for my laptop running so hot lately. If you are running on battery power stay away from this app.

avoid worthless

this app does not let you control fans - you must buy an upgrade for something that is free elsewhere on net… ugh.. remove this pos

There are issues—annoyances that should have been fixed a while ago

This has the potential to be a great product. But there’s a key problem: The preferences don’t record your preference. In particular, I don’t like Celsius. No matter, that’s all I seem to be able to get, even after changing (I can’t say how many times) the preferences to us Fahrenheit. Fix that, and this is a 4-5 star program. But that’s a glaring issue. Sorry guys, but your QA for version releases is at best sloppy. This one should have been caught.

Just bought this and now they say there is a PRO version 14.99?

That will give you fan control. THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A UPDATE. Instead I sent and got MAC FAN CONTROL - a FREE APP that will let you control your fans. I use this app (4.99) to view temps) I use the Mac fan control (free) to control the fans. I no longer have a fps drop as my CPU was getting hotter. I just programmed the free app to increase fan speeds as CPU temp went up. 5 stars - if not for trying to sell me a PRO version for 11.00 more! shame on you.

I purchased this app but now I can’t download it anymore

I purchased this app back in Oct 20. My computer died, after repair the great people at Apple replaced my hard-drive and wiped it out. I logged in with my iTunes account but this app is not showing up as purchased. I do have the receipt. How do I get it again in my computer?

Great app, but one thing

I love this app, it is an efficient temperature monitor for an array of the computer’s systems. But, I feel like this app is overpriced and a classic bait and switch situation. After paying $6.99 dollars, you will be prompted to buy the “pro” version for a “discounted” $7.49. I would give 5 stars, but because of the pricing and the extra pro-version, I rate this a two star.

After A Rocky Upgrade Process, Excellent Tool

Installed this today after having core temperatures high enough to cause minor burns on my 2011 macbook pro. It provided the readings I needed to determine this was a software and not a hardware issue. I killed the offending apps and am now running 40 degrees cooler on the same resources. Thanks tunabelly

Farenhiet Won’t stay in Preferences

Over all the app is good and you are able to see all temps. In another post someone had mentioned that when selecting farenhiet in preferences, the app will change to that, but will go back to celsius on a reboot and does not stay. On all my weather apps I prefer farenhiet. Please fix this tiny issue.

Missing fan speed control or am I wrong?

Only thing missing is controling the fan speed ! I purchased this app for just to get to control the fan speed. 3 star for this. otherwise great app !

Saved my bacon

Had to crack open my mac mini to reseat a HD connector that had come loose when I installed an SSD drive. After I closed it back up, I restarted and noticed that Temperature Gauge was showing that the fan wasn’t running AT ALL. And, the temp was shooting up, up, up. So, I shut it down, cracked the Mini open again and sure enough, the power connector for the fan wasn’t seated properly. Oopsie. (Hmmm, apparently, not reseating connectors properly is a thing with me.) Very highly recommended!

works

This app works as described , it would be better if they ad widget to notification centre so that I don’t need to open app everytime.

No HDD temperature??

I bought this to know my HDD temperature, because I bought an aftermarket HDD, but this program doesn’t even show the harddrive temperature. I want a refund. It says ALL - this should include ALL the temperature sensors. Why doesn’t it show the HDD temperature??!

It tells the temps and seems to be accurate

Using this tool I determined that my thermal paste application on a logic board replacement was working as expected. I also determined that the cooling system on the 2014 MBP Retina is much more easily pushed to its limits than the 2012 MBP Retina.

Very nice!

Nice piece of code! A quick one-glance, and you know the status of your machine. I did notice that the hard drive temperature is not on the list, and I know that the iMac has a external sensor (2010 or earlier) or an internal sensor (2011 or later). I sent a request for info about this. I don’t know if it’s a legitimate miss or not. Aside from that, highly recommended!

only a gauge.

$5 to see temperatures. Another $7.50 to adjust fan speed to control temperature. SMC fan does the same for free.

good app but bait and switch> cost $5+15 not 5(as advertised)

You have to buy another program after the initial purchase. disrespectful and waste of time. Charge your fee and dont make people jump through hoops to get what they thought they were getting.

Does not show CPU temp or fan temp, only hard drive

This was money wasted. It doesn’t do what is advertised. I’m running Yosemite 10.10.3 and it only shows the hard drive temp. It does not show any other temperature at all despite setting it in preferences. I also went to the developer’s website and downloaded the “newer” web version and it doesn’t do anything either.
